One more thing · Porosity

Porosity is how well your hair holds moisture — the one thing a photo can't reveal. Two quick questions and we'll add it to your signature:

The method
How your signature is calculated

Your Curl Signature is three letters — Form–Fiber–Mass — read from the three photos you took. Each pose answers one question about your curls.

Three photos, three reads
P1
ShapeForm: how your curls bend.
P2
Strand close-upFiber: how thick each hair is.
P3
Part lineMass: how densely hair grows.
What each letter means
Form (1st letter) — the shape of the curl, loosest to tightest: Wavy (W), Spiraled (S), Coiled (C), or Zigzag (Z).
Fiber (2nd letter) — how thick a single strand is: Fine (F), Medium (M), or Coarse (R). Coarse is written R so it’s never confused with Coiled.
Mass (3rd letter) — how dense the hair is: Sparse (S), Balanced (B), or Dense (D).
Porosity (optional) — how easily the hair soaks up and holds moisture: Low, Medium, or High. A photo can't show this, so we ask you two quick questions instead.
How the metric cards are estimated

Tangle Density, Friction Index and Moisture Level are estimates — not lab measurements. They’re inferred from your signature and what the photos show: coilier, denser hair tends to tangle more and hold less moisture, while smoother patterns behave differently. Treat them as a starting point for dialing in your routine.
